Week 6.... type of Information system

In this week we continuous to learn about type of Information system as in the week we learned about what is information system and its components.
Five Types of Information Systems. Information systems are constantly changing and evolving as technology continues to grow. Formation systems can generally be classified as follows:
1. Transaction Processing System (TPS)
Applications of information systems that process business transaction data. Its use at operational level and focuses on the data. An example is a computer application for typing.
2. Management Information System (MIS)
Applications of information system that aims to provide information used in the field of management (management-oriented reporting.) Examples are computer applications for hospital services, pharmacy purchasing, scheduling of production machinery and others.
3. Decision Support System (DSS)
Applications of information systems that provide decision-oriented information and especially in situations where decision-making. At the executive level often called Executive Information System. For example a computer application to determine the purchase of drug stocks at the hospital, the determination of sugar distribution system and others.
4. Expert System (ES)
Information system designed to produce a decision by reproducing knowledge and expertise of the decision maker and problem solver and then simulate it. For example advanced applications of artificial neural networks, face recognition and so forth.
5. Office Automation System
Systems that support business activities on a large scale. Examples ERP applications for the company.

week 5.........................

This week I had class on Friday morning as usual but at the last night before that day I didn’t sleep well so I got up late and went to the class late. When I reached at the class I noticed sometime strange because nobody in the class then I suddenly called to my friend to ask what happened. So he answered me that we got a quiz to day and we changed the class to G2 in foundation building. So I quickly went there I was very afraid that how to tell the reason why I was late. But fortunately at that day my lecturer didn’t come she just asked to do the quiz after that we can go,,,,,,,,,,,,So at that day I  didn’t have any lesson and after I finished the quiz I went to my room for have a rest. This is a very confused week for me it was excited that I was late and excited that I do the quiz with very poor preparation. This my experience in the week I learnt that we must be ready for any test in every time so I have to do some review after I have learned. Those all for this week thank you.

week 4 information system

This week I learned about information system so now let begin with the definition of IS
Information system definition: An information system and MIS (IS) - or application landscape which is any combination of information technology and people's activities that support operations, management and decision making. In a very broad sense, the term information system is frequently used to refer to the interaction between people, processes, data and technology. In this sense, the term is used to refer not only to the information and communication technology (ICT) that an organization uses, but also to the way in which people interact with this technology in support of business processes.
The 5 components that must come together in order to produce a Computer-Based Information system are:
1. Hardware: The term hardware refers to machinery. This category includes the computer itself, which is often referred to as the central processing unit (CPU), and all of its support equipment’s. Among the support equipment’s are input and output devices, storage devices and communications devices.

2. Software: The term software refers to computer programs and the manuals (if any) that support them. Computer programs are machine-readable instructions that direct the circuitry within the hardware parts of the CBIS to function in ways that produce useful information from data. Programs are generally stored on some input / output medium, often a disk or tape.
3. Data: Data are facts that are used by programs to produce useful information. Like programs, data are generally stored in machine-readable form on disk or tape until the computer needs them.
4. Procedures: Procedures are the policies that govern the operation of a computer system. "Procedures are to people what software is to hardware" is a common analogy that is used to illustrate the role of procedures in a CBIS.
5. People: Every CBIS needs people if it is to be useful. Often the most over-looked element of the CBIS is the people, probably the component that most influence the success or failure of information systems.
that all for this week ,,and see you next week...thank you

week 3 ICT: information communication technology

As I mention before this week we had to presenting our task about problem of information management so definitely the first hour in this week we just spent the time for it. Then after all group had done the presentation. We began to study as usual. This week it still about information but it we went through it deeper which is about ICT: Information communication technology. We learnt ICT organization and usage of ICT. After we finished explore about it the lecturer ask us to find a group for four people then she gave us a question. We had to find the answer then present to our class. For my group we had given a question about ICT with heath care in our country so we had done very good job. Thanks to all my group mates. We worked together and finished together. This is the third week and it all about it. Thank you.

week 2 Information technology

Last week I learnt about data and information so in this I learnt the same thing but we went through It deeper. I already know that information is organized, meaningful so how to do it. The topic in this week is Information technology. It is about organization of information. So in this week I learnt about IT architecture and IT infrastructure. These are some explanation about them: Information technology architecture is A high level map or plan of the information assets in an organization, Integrates entire organisation’s business needs for information, infrastructure and applications. And Information technology infrastructure Is The physical facilities, IT components, IT services, and IT personnel that support an entire organisation.

In this week also I studied about globalization which is has three stages. The Stages of Globalization (From Thomas Friedman in The World is Flat)
·         Globalization 1.0 (from 1492 to 1800)
·         Globalization 2.0 (from 1800 to 2000)
·         Globalization 3.0 (from 2000 to the present)
Around the year 2000, we entered Globalization 3.0, which was driven by the convergence of ten forces that Friedman calls “flatteners”. And In era 3.0, the global, Web-based platform has emerged. This all for this week and lastly in this week also we had group work that we had given to present in the next week. it is we had to find problem with information management and find solution to overcome those problem.  That all thank youl……

week 1 Data and information

Good morning, this is the first class for ICT subject in the week of trimester 2. It was on Friday and actually we just have ICT class once a week which is on Friday but there is tree hours directly.  Ok for the first hours on that day our lecturer just introduced the new topic that is we are going to learn. Before she begin teaching us, she had ask everyone  “ what is data and what is information” so frankly I could not answer correctly the very easy question.
ok , never mind I need to learn first. Then my lecturer began to introduce us about the data and information. Also about course outline and assessment for this semester. After one and haft hour our class finished. At that time after studied I understood that Data is raw facts; Data can be in the form of numbers, characters, symbols, pictures or even sounds, it has no significance when it exists in that form. And Information is data that is organized and meaningful, It is used for making decisions, Data is used as input for processing and information is output of this processing. This is knowledge that I have known now.
